Questions and Answers

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • is the connection from the junction box to the led light a universal connection or do they vary by manufacturer

    Vary by the manufacturer.

  • I need to get the exact dimensions...dia. of outside and dia. of inside light.....I need to match what I already have.

This light fits in a 4 inch hole

  • If this 8 lights why does it say 20 pack in the product info section?

Hi there, thank you for bringing it to our notice. The listing will be updated shortly.

  • Can these be used outdoors? In the soffits of a porch?

I installed mine in a Canopy that I built over a Garage door, the box is in a weatherproof location. So long the box is kept dry. I would say Yes you should be fine in the soffits of a porch. I would upload a picture, but I don't think I can.

  • Are they 120V?!

    Yes.

  • I will like to know if anyone used that type of dimer.. meros, 300watts, 125volts and if it work Thank for the answer

I have used wifi dimmer which I bought from Costco are working fine manually as with the app. So these pot lights are a very reliable and affordable option

  • Can you change the temperature of these lights? I'm looking for 24 pack that can change temperature (3k, 4k, 5k)

No, you have to buy according to what you want for the temperature.

  • The type of bulb states the type is halogen. Is this Led or Halogen?

It is LED. I love it.

  • Which ones do I order, that I can change the color temperature via the switch?

This style does not have a switch they are only available and the brightness you choose

  • I just installed these, which dimmer switch is this compatible with? Will these work with Lutron or Leviton dimmer switches?

Yes, they do I have had no issues. It even says so on the box.

  • Can these be mounted on a 1-inch thick ceiling? We have to put 2 layers of the drywall as per the new building code.

Hi - not ideal but you can. The springs on the clips are powerful and will keep the bulb in place for sure.

  • Does the junction box fit in the light hole so I can install them with the ceilings done

    Yes

  • How do you change the light between the 3 colors?

    By on/off of the switch.

  • How thick is the pot light? Simply in relation to the light Can I install it under a joist assuming there is room for the clamps?

You need to cut the hole 4-1/4 inch.

  • What is the size of the light including the trim?

    5" diameter

  • Can these be installed in a steam shower or will that be too wet?

I have not tried the steam shower. Hut I would trust that it would work. Led and wet location rated... should last!

  • Can three wires (one in, two out) fit in the box?

    Yes but tight.

  • First time looking at these, intermediate skills, how do you do a run to hook up multiple lights? Do you have to pigtail off of the mainline?

The electrical connection is a simple quick connect push through with 6 wire landing points. Easy to run multiples in parallel.

  • Has anyone had issues with these clipping snug and flat onto a drywall ceiling (no gaps?)

The only reason you would get gaps is if the ceiling was not flat or the clips were hitting a stud.

  • Can these be placed outdoors?

Absolutely! We installed at least a dozen outside, about 1 yr ago and they are all still working fine.

  • what is the overall diameter of one light?

    4 inch

  • What voltage is the LED? After the transformer? Can I use them on 12vdc

I do not know. Never checked.

    Un blanc chaud.

  • Is it only compatible with dimmers listed?

No, you can use anyone you want.

  • Is each Qplus 4-inch package complete in that all I need is a loop of #14 cable? They say retrofit, but are they good to go as new?

  • Can these lights be installed directly into soffits or I am going to need some support so the soffits don't sag?

They can be installed right in the soffits

  • How far apart from each other could this be installed

I would say no more than 6 feet apart in my opinion

  • Is this compatible with traditional dimmers?

It is hard to say. But the LED/CFL Leviton universal one is compatible.

  • is this 3k or 4k?

Don't know what you mean by this question?

  • What is the orientation of the leads? One picture shows the female lead attached to the light panel and another shows it attached to the power supply.

    Leads attach to power supply

  • Is the wire grummet included?

    No

  • What is the Jonction box dimension?

    4 Inches.

  • Is the warranty 3 years or 5 years? The answers are stating 3 and 5. Which one is it?

It provides a wide light pattern. It will shine in your eye if on a slope.

  • So flick the wall switch to change 3k to 4k to 5k-one flick-3k, second will put 4k, 3rd time-5k? how to ensure 3k is always coming with 1st on the flick?

One time flick gives you 3000K. If you leave the lights on 3000K for more than 10seconds, the color temperature gets stored in the lights' memory. The next time you turn on the lights, they will be in 3000K.

  • Are the LEDs in the device 12v? So would it be possible to bypass the box and go 12v directly?

    oui

  • Are these lights CSA certified?

    yes

They should receive direct exposure to water. If the area is covered and they are not splashed on directly, should be ok.

  • These spotlights with 5000k are daylight?

Different vendors use different terms. Sometimes 5000K is called cool white or daylight or other terms. The key is if it says 5000K, it should be bright white light (as opposed to a softer, warmer light for the 3000K).

  • If this 8 lights why does it say 20 pack in the product info section ?

    Must be a typo

  • Are these actually meant for retrofit? IE: would they screw into a standard lightbulb socket of pre-existing pot light?

No, they are retrofit and hard-wired in.

These lights are 'wet rated' and can be used in most roof soffits. The junction box must be installed in a dry location, tucked inside the soffit, and not exposed to the elements.

  • Can three wires (one in two out) fit in the box?

It will be rather tight but you can fit three and the quick-connects support 4.

officiellement non, mais les risques de bris sont faibles

  • Are these lights dimmable?

The junction box is approx. 1-1/4 inch so you should be okay.

  • I want to install 24 lights, what dimmer switch is required?

Hi there, you can use the QPlus dimmer switch (we sell here) for these lights, but one switch would not be able to control all the lights. You need would be best to use 3 switches for so many lights.

The flange is 3/4 inch wide

    it's LED, very satisfied

  • how many amps does 1 light draw and what do you use as the power source

  • Would these lights 6500K true white be good for a basement or would 3000K be a better option?

6500 is too white for me. In my basement, I used 4000k lights (I can either set them at 3000, 4000, or 5000k) but 3000k is warmer (more yellow).

  • Does the junction box fit in the light hole so I can install them with the ceilings done

    yes it does

  • Will they work with Lutron Caseta dimmers?

Yes, they should. The dimmer needs to be rated for use with LEDs.

  • This can be used in a ceiling with insulation without an insulation box, correct?

Yes, these are rated for direct insulation contact (IC).

  • Are the body and spring attached to the body in plastic or metal?

It is metal, it is strong enough, very good led pot lights.

  • is it safe to use in bathrooms?

es they are rated for damp locations.

  • Do these require an electronic low voltage dimmer?

No but use one so that you can choose how bright you want the House to be.

  • Comment l'installer au plafond ?

tu fais un trou au plafond

  • What is the recommended ceiling spacing on these pot lights?

As a general rule for spacing lights, divide the ceiling height by two. So if the ceiling height is 8 feet, put the lights 4 feet apart. If the ceiling height is 10 feet put the lights 5 feet apart. Better to provide more light and control with a dimmer, than to under-light. Hope that helps.

  • Can these be installed in a drop ceiling?

I installed these in rigid 2x4 ceiling tiles. I mounted the control box above the ceiling on the floor joist. The lights themselves are extremely light. Use a 4.25-inch hole saw to make the holes. If the ceiling tiles are not rigid I think they'd make the tile sag.

  • Can these lights be used with a motion sensor?

  • what is the best distance for installing them on an 8 feet ceiling?

I don't think the ceiling height matters that much. It's more about how much light you want for the size of the room. I have 4 in a 10x12 bedroom, 8 in a 16x14 living room with a dimmer, and 2 in a 5x8 office.

Start the first light on the first row 3'5" from the wall the spacing between the lights should be 6'10 1/4" and do the 2nd row the same, this will give you an even light distribution
